Zambezi Sands River Camp

Zambezi Sands offers a wonderful combination of wildlife, river activities, and magnificent views of the Zambezi River before it plunges over the Victoria Falls.

Zambezi Sands River Camp is situated in the Zambezi National Park. Guests are able to enjoy game drives to see wildlife in a stunning setting at the Zambezi River's edge. A wonderful bonus is to jump in one of several canoes, and paddle along the Zambezi River to view birds and wildlife from a hippo eye's viewpoint. Other activities include fishing on either canoe or motorboat, sundowner cruises to watch the spectacular colours of the last rays, whilst listening to the haunting fish eagle call. 

Zambezi Sands River Camp is an all inclusive tented safari camp. Take advantage of our stay for three night, pay for two nights price (see facts tab below for valid dates). Rates include a wide variety of exciting activities under the options tab. 

Each of the camps 8 tents are tastefully furnished and boast an outdoor shower and private splash pool overlooking the magnificent Zambezi River.

The camp is just 1hr from Victoria Falls, and the activities include a Tour of the Falls.  For an alternative all inclusive option closer to Victoria Falls see  Gorges Lodge or Little Gorges Lodge. To add on a safari nearby see Hwange National Park.

    What and where

    Located within a 1 hour road transfer via the forest route (16km), or 1.5hrs (20km) via the river route from Victoria Falls. Depends how quickly or slowly you'd like to get there! The lodge is situated within the Zambezi National Park on the edge of the Zambezi River. 

    Highlights

    A wealth of game viewing opportunities by foot or by vehicle, and even by inflatable canoe or motorised boat. You could sit in your private deck splash pool, overlooking the Zambezi, and spot elephant bathing in front of you. Hippo, waterbuck and bushbuck frequent the reed banks and islands in front of the lodge. Lions are heard calling in the night, while the birdlife is simply prolific including African finfoot, African skimmer, pratincoles, and Pel's fishing owl. Just a short way from Victoria Falls.

    This charming, luxury tented lodge is built on raised platforms with river views and private sun decks. The main camp area includes a dining room, lounge and bar with sahded outdoor deck for al fresco dining; free Wi-Fi in main areas; 

    Room types are available as follows:

    • 8 luxury Bedouin tents 74 square metres, and 56 square metre private deck
    • Each has a lounge area, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities
    • 1 double with kingsize bed, 7 twins with two double beds in each
    • 2 have interleading walkway and are used for family groups

    Sunset Drift amongst the islands

    • Morning and afternoon game drives with snacks in traditional open safari vehicles
    • All day game drives with packed lunch and snacks in open safari vehicles
    • Land Cruisers seat up to 9 guests and Land Rovers 7 guests

    Game walks

    • Conducted by fully licensed and highly experienced professional guides
    • Usually undertaken in mornings and suitable for viewing big game on foot

    Canoeing

    • Guided canoeing on the Zambezi using inflatable canoes which are easy to manage. There are some shallow rapids allowing for a bit of excitement and white water! This is a great way to experience the Zambezi River.

    Fishing

    • Basic guided fishing close to camp. The river is home to the fierce tigerfish and many other species.
