Zambezi Getaway Best offer

An unhurried 5-night getaway with 2 nights at Zambezi Lodge, 2 nights canoeing the upper Zambezi plus a night at Elephant Camp

Your leisurely five-day safari starts at Kazangula from Imbabala Lodge and will take you past the Zambezi and Mosi-oa-Tunya National Parks to finish at Victoria Falls. Kazangula marks the spot where four of southern Africa's prime safari destinations, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia, meet.

Imbabala is where you can "kick your shoes off" and relax for the first two nights. It is a quiet and tranquil spot in a private concession on the upper Zambezi - close enough for the action, far enough for some peace. The lodge is small and unpretentious, well known for its warm hospitality.

Imbabala borders Botswana's Chobe Forest Reserve so the wildlife viewing is excellent. Resident wildlife on the private concession is often joined by herds of elephants from Chobe that cross the borders.  Sightings of lion, painted dog, giraffe and kudu add to the scene. Birdlife is also phenomenal especially in summer's "green season" from November to April. Early morning, afternoon and nighttime game drives are part of the daily routine. The days are ended off with river cruises and spectacular sunsets.

The setting changes with a two-night canoe safari past the Zambezi National Park.  This pace of the canoe safari is calm with and takes place on the wide and placid stretches of the Zambezi River, interspersed with channels, islands and gentle rapids at 'Siansimba' and 'Kandahar'.  The scenery on both banks includes teak forests, mopani woodlands and riverine habitats that hold a profusion of birds. Wildlife is good especially in the drier months from July to October.  Picnic lunches are taken on islands and two private campsites are set up for the safari.

The canoe safari ends at the bottom of the National Park followed by a short drive through Victoria Falls for the final night at Elephant Camp  within its expansive private concession above the Batoka Gorge. You'll have the extraordinary opportunity to interact and learn about this herd of orphaned elephants, their history, future and the challenges of elephant conservation.

The final day entails a transfer to Victoria Falls airport.
