Thorntree lies within the Mosi au Tunya park about 12 minutes drive from the centre of Livingstone.

Within the grounds of Thorntree Lodge, a herd of domesticated orphaned elephants are housed. You can enjoy an informative interaction or elephant back safari in the bushveld and along the riverbank.

What and where

Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park stretches along the banks of the Zambezi River from Livingstone town heading upstream towards Botswana. Thorntree lies within the park about 12 minutes drive from the centre of Livingstone.

  • Chalets are dotted along the banks of theZambezi offering guests privacy and tranquility. Each chalet has its own balcony from which there are uninterrupted views of the river.

Accommodation options

Nine chalets include 2 luxury honeymoon chalets

  • Both double and twin configurations are offered. 
  • All chalets have en suite bathroom facilities. Three standard rooms have indoor showers, while the luxury rooms and other standard rooms have both an indoor bath as well as an indoor and outdoor shower.
  • There are tea and coffee making stations in each chalet
  • Stocked mini bar fridges in each room. Contents are for your own account.
  • Mosquito nets in all rooms
  • Fans in each room for your comfort
  • In keeping with the safari experience there are no TVs in the rooms.
