River cruises
Few places offer the dramatic sunsets that you'll find on the Zambezi River with plumes of spray and wildlife filling the scene
The sunset cruise is an essential
component of any trip to Victoria Falls. An opportunity to relax
with sundowners and snacks on the upper Zambezi River. Make
sure your camera's charged because the sunsets are amongst the best
you're going to get in Africa. You're going to have an excellent
chance of picking up big game as it comes down to drink after a hot
day in Zambezi National Park (Zimbabwe) and Mosi-oa-Tunya National
Park (Zambia).
Cruises are available daily on request for breakfast,
lunch, sunset and dinner.
Sightings of elephant, giraffe and other
resident game are common. There's always an abundance of hippo and
crocodiles. Birdlife is superb and the Fisheagles will usually fill
the scene with their calls. Unless an
experienced guide joins the cruise the skipper and crew have good
knowledge of the wildlife and local history in the area.
Cruises last for 2 to 3 hours depending on when and where
you're launcing from. Transfers from hotels in both
Livingstone and Vic Falls town are included. (*Park Fees
excluded - applicable in Zimbabwe)
Breakfast and lunch cruises - US$70 per person
Sunset cruises - US$45 per
person
Dinner cruises - US$75 per
person (advance bookings essential)
Lodges further upstream the Zambezi in both Zimbabwe and
Zambia include sundowner cruises as part of the deal. The upper
reaches tend to be quieter affairs than the revelling crowds on a
few of the big party boats...they're all great fun!
