Gorges and Little Gorges

Gorges and Little Gorges are just 30 minutes from Victoria Falls. Set on the edge of the Batoka Gorge, there are spectacular views of the rushing waters of the Zambezi River below.

Spend a night or two to recover from your flights and stay at  Gorges or Little Gorges, overlooking the spectacular Batoka Gorge. This amazing gorge has been carved over hundreds of years by the Zambezi River.  With easy access to the Falls, Gorges and Little Gorges offers guests an all inclusive option close to the Falls. Stay at Little Gorges, a small simple tented camp with enormous canvas rooms, each with a spectacular view of the Gorge. Right next door is Gorges Lodge with rooms perched on the edge of the Gorge, whilst the Zambezi rages below.

Take advantage of our stay for 3 pay for 2 nights special (see fact tab below for valid dates). This lodge is all inclusive which means you don't need to worry about a big bill at the end of your stay.

Built on community land, black eagles can be seen from your room as well as other raptors often at eye level.  Visit the local village to whom we pay our rent and support, take a tour of the Falls, undertake a myriad of activities available or enjoy the peace and solitude of the extraordinary view.

For an alternative all inclusive option, close to Victoria Falls and with big game viewing options see Zambezi Sands River Lodge for a superbly priced safari option.

Big animals you'll meet

Mana elephant by Trish Berry

Elephants

Largest land animals on earth, the African elephant used to range widely through sub-Saharan Africa. Despite being threatened by habitat loss and ivory poaching African elephants have healthy populations in east and southern Africa. Best places to see elephants include Mana Pools and Hwange in Zimbabwe, Botswana's Chobe and Linyanti, the Luangwa Valley, Selous, Katavi and Amboseli.

Warthogs by John Lamphee

Warthog

The 2 pairs of warts on warthogs (males have 2 more = 6), make those on fairy tale witches look incredibly small.  Sparse hair, a bristly mane and a long tail with a tuft on the end complete the picture. But these African wild pigs are incredibly cute, especially when running away with round fat bottoms and tails stuck straight in the air like a beacon for their young to follow.

Ongava Lodge Zebras by Dana Allen for Wilderness Safaris

Zebras

Sociable animals congregating in large herds or small harems. Related to horses there're three species: mountain, plains and Grévys zebra. They have excellent eyesight and it's believed, colour vision. Although slower than horses they have great stamina and zig-zag to escape predators. When cornered their horse like tendences come to the fore as they rear up, kick and bite in defence.
