Accommodation consists of four thatched open-fronted chalets each with their own sweeping river views. A Zambezi sunset will keep guests enthralled as they relax in the lounge area with a sundowner. The island is fully staffed and guides will captivate guests with old bush tales around the campfire. Sindabezi Island is situated nearby the camp's mainland base of Tongabezi Lodge. A combination of Tongabezi Lodge and Sindabezi Island is a great experience. Activities Boat trips Canoeing Game viewing Birding Fishing Walking Private trips to Livingstone Island are also part of the Tongabezi portfolio. Livingstone Island is in a prime location on the lip of the Victoria Falls themselves, in the centre of the Zambezi River. There are three morning trips with tea and snacks, a lunch time trip including the opportunity to swim in the pools on the edge of the Falls, and 1 afternoon trip with swim, tea, drinks and snacks. |
| Sindabezi Island is a private island paradise nestled in the waters of
the Zambezi upstream of the Victoria Falls. Not only is it is the only
African bush camp in the area, but the island is also the only bush camp
that can be enjoyed exclusively as a private booking. Here, in a haven of
natural tranquillity, you’ll truly experience the sights and sounds of the
African bush. From Sindabezi, the flood plain of the mighty Zambezi and
the views of the wildlife in the nearby National Park will capture your
soul. ## Your stay at Sindabezi Island Camp begins with either a short boat ride or a guided canoe trip down the Zambezi to the island. Along the way there are lots of opportunities for game viewing, as we pass close to the shores of Zimbabwe where many animals wander from the Zambezi National Park to water at the river’s edge. The main camp area is set on the sand and is the perfect place just to relax, unwind and simply enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this tiny island. Our staff are always on hand to guarantee your every comfort. At night, the main camp is transformed into a world of yesteryear, with the absence of electricity adding to the romance and charm of this magical island. Five star dining on the sand, under the canopy of stars, with the river meandering past and the unmistakable sounds of hippos wallowing nearby, assure an experience never to be forgotten. ## Sindabezi Island sleeps only ten people, in five open fronted thatched chalets dotted around the shores of the island. The island is very rustic in style with no electricity, wood fires and hot bucket showers on demand. The unique design of the chalets allows you to encounter up close all the sights and sounds of the river and the creatures that live in and around it, including regular visits from Horace, our resident hippo. At night, you will fall asleep in the glow of a hurricane lamp and be awoken by magnificent sunrises over the flood plains of the river. Sindabezi Island is ideal for families or a small party looking for complete privacy and is particularly good value. Taking the island privately ensures a private guide, boat and vehicle. You can still do all your activities as at the main Tongabezi lodge, but with an added 20 minute scenic boat transfer to and from Sindabezi. ## The camp is fully staffed and each member of staff acts not only as a host, but as a qualified guide, enhancing this unique African experience. Our guides will use their expert knowledge on all of the many inclusive activities that are available from Sindabezi. These include: Bird watching; Fishing; Game viewing; Canoeing; Boating; Island lunches; Island walks; Picnics. The chances of spotting game from Sindabezi are very good as we are situated just across the water from Zimbabwe’s second largest national park. Often to be seen grazing on the nearby river banks are elephant, hippo, many types of game, as well as cavorting baboons and monkeys. One may even be lucky enough to hear the roar of distant lions – a sound you will never forget. There are also over two-hundred species of birds for bird- watching enthusiasts. |
